Welcome to Primary 4H!
Class of 2024/2025
We are really enjoying our new topic on 'Superheroes'! We have been designing and making our own Superhero characters by adding scraps of material to make their costumes!
In celebration of Anti - Bullying week, lots of children have decided to show their uniqueness by wearing odd socks! Check out our funky feet!
Our new topic has begun and P4H are enjoying learning all about Superheroes! We have been learning about the origins of popular comic book characters and even made our own Superhero mask! We learned about real life Superheroes who have helped people and changed the world for the better. Check out our cool creations below.....
Another massive well done to Naima, who achieved her Level 7 badge in gymnastics yesterday, from 'Tilt' gymnastics club! Naima has worked hard to reach this level in the sport and loves to attend the club every week.
A huge congratulations to Finn and his team mates from Rosario Football club, who were treated to a training session by the Northern Ireland Women's football team! The event was sponsored by Marks and Spencer so the children were treated to tasty snacks as well as receiving signed football shirts from the manager Tanya Oxtoby and striker Emily Wilson.
P4H wish you all an enjoyable half-term break, however you choose to celebrate! Happy Halloween!
Congratulations to Niko, who won the prize for best 'Spooky Sketch' in P4H, with his detailed portrait of a haunted castle.
We love getting creative here in P4H and have some cool displays in and around the classroom which showcase our talent! Everything from maths, to literacy, to ICT along with some awesome art and topic work on 'Senses'. Check them out!
The final day of Maths week is upon us and we have had a wonderful time exploring different concepts and topics through practical activities, play and problem solving. Today, we carried out some investigations and worked our way through some tricky maths challenges!
Day 4 of Maths Week and today, we have been creating some wonderful tessellating 2D shape patterns! Since we have been reading 'The Twits' by Roald Dahl, we decided to create patterns incorporating some of the characters from the book; the monkeys, the frog and the Roly Poly bird.
Day 3 of Maths week and we were treated to some warm and sunny weather! With this in mind, we ventured outside and into the playground to participate in some fun symmetry activities! We created symmetrical patterns along the lines already marked out on the ground and used chalk and natural materials.
Day 2 of Maths week saw P4H learning all about symmetry and creating their own symmetrical leaf patterns with Autumn leaves!
Maths Week got off to a great start and P4H loved playing some practical maths games to consolidate their existing knowledge of time, partitioning, 2D shapes and addition and subtraction bonds.
P4H really enjoyed learning about the origins of 'Black History Month' during October. We watched videos and read books about some prominent Black figures throughout the world. When researching the civil rights activist, Martin Luther King Jr, we learned about his vision for the future in his famous 'I have a dream' speech. We wrote about our own dreams for the future and what changes we would like to see in the world.
We have loved learning about our Senses and decided to experiment with some different scents, to further explore our sense of smell. We created our own personal fragrances using different spices and plant and fruit extracts then designed our own perfume bottles. Check out our finished products....
We really enjoyed getting outside in the sunshine and expanding our learning about nouns! We hunted for nouns around the playground, made nouns with magnetic letters, wrote nouns using natural materials and sounded out new and unfamiliar nouns by writing them in chalk on the ground!
We have been studying all about our senses in P4 and took to the great outdoors to participate in a 'Senses Hunt'! We found lots of different items with different textures, appearances and fragrances.
Check out our spook-tacular costumes for Halloween!
We asked the families at Rosetta to make donations for our Harvest appeal. We gave all the food to the South Belfast Food Bank. It was super heavy!
Check out our activities from 'Maths Week Ireland'!
