Welcome to our Nursery Unit
Rosetta Nursery is an integral part of our school and is located within the main school building. The Nursery class has an experienced, fully qualified teacher and nursery assistant; and offers full time places for 26 children, from 8.45 a.m. to 1.15 p.m. The Nursery provides a happy, secure environment where children can develop at their own rate through challenging and progressive play. ETI praised the nursery unit for, ‘Providing rich learning opportunities for children in all areas of the pre-school curriculum.’ Children and their families are welcomed into the life of Rosetta Primary School.
The Nursery class also provides opportunities for the children to grow in self-confidence, develop social skills and to communicate effectively. The children enjoy a wide variety of indoor and outdoor play based activities through which they have the opportunity to develop a range of skills and capabilities. The Nursery Unit has an extensive outdoor area, the Woodland and Adventure World enhance the children’s learning.
Our First Day of Nursery
September in Nursery
In September, Nursery have been settling into school. They have been learning the class rules and routines, as well as exploring the Nursery playgrounds.
October in Nursery
In October, Nursery have been thinking about animals that live on the farm & the role of the farmer looking after animals and growing fruit and vegetables. We have also been thinking about woodland animals, making hedgehog models with our playdough and taking care of injured hedgehogs in our vets surgery. Our hair salon was also very busy this month with Nursery learning to use the props & tools to enhance their play, and to begin sharing these with their peers.
This month we also started music sessions with Miss Nina from "Nina's Notes". We have really enjoyed learning how our bodies can be used to make music and playing the claves.
Our Pumpkin Patch
In October, we finished our learning about the farm and the role of the farmer through our pumpkin patch. We had pumpkin themed activities during play and then got to visit the pumpkin patch as Nursery finished. Nursery got to choose a pumpkin and then took the chosen pumpkin home, and decorated it through painting, sticking or carving.
Happy Hallowe'en!
We had lots of fun exploring Hallowe'en through lots of different play activities. We have used props and costumes to take on the role of a witch or wizard in our role play area, made 'good potions' in the water tray, and decorated biscuits to eat at our Hallowe'en party.
"We are artists..."
Nursery have been learning how to use the Interactive Whiteboard. We have been learning how to change colour and to use the 'magic pen' to draw. Our final paintings look fantastic!
